Q: my w2 tax forms were sent to the wrong address so how do i get them back?
i moved and my w2 tax forms were sent to my old address. how do i retrieve my w2 tax forms in time?
A: Ask your employer to resend them to you.
Q: Is it the employer’s responsibility to MAIL W2 tax forms?
My husband & his former employer (cousin) are disputing & the employer refuses to email the w2 tax forms for the past year. He INSISTS that my husband come and pick them up (I think because he want to have a confrontation). How can we get him to mail them?
A: They can mail them to you or they can hand them to you. If he isn’t working there any more, he has to mail them – your husband isn’t required to go pick them up. If you aren’t in a huge hurry for them, wait until 2/15, and if you don’t have it by then, call the IRS and report him. They’ll get on his case, and you are likely to get it pretty quickly then.
Q: What’s the difference (if any) in the w2 forms and tax forms?
I feel really dumb for asking, but I really have no idea. I know the w-2 form is what I fill out when hired, will I receive a tax form in the mail? I really have no idea how this works. My dad usually does it for me, but I figured I need to learn to do it on my own. Also, if I’ve had more than one job this year, do I need to wait on all w2 forms before filing?
A: No actually a W-4 is what you fill out when you are hired – what you put down on that determines how much tax will be withheld from your paycheck. A W-2 is the form you get at the end of the year showing what you made for the year, and what was deducted in various categories. A tax form is the form you then fill out and send to the IRS – it shows your income and withholding for the year, and the calculation of your total tax owed and whether you have a refund coming or have to pay more.
If you have more than one job, yes you have to wait for all your W-2s for the year before you fill out the tax form. You’ll add all of them together, and show the total on one tax form.
Q: How can I get past W2 tax forms? If I can’t get them from former employers, where can I get them?
I am being audited from 1997 to 2002. My former employer for those years has gone out of business. It has so far been very difficult to get a hold of him as he has moved out of the area. During my most recent move (2006), I somehow lost these tax forms. Where can I get copies of these forms? Please help.
Steve
A: Ask your auditor, if you are dealing directly with one, or the IRS for copies of your past W-2’s.
Your employer had to issue W-2’s to the IRS as well as to you.
Q: I recently lost my W2 tax forms and my job says it cannot help. Does anyone know how I can obtain a copy?
I would like to obtain it with no danger to my security. If you guys can help it would be great. Much appreciated.
A: Danger to your security ? You mean you are in mortal danger because you did not receive your W2 … just kidding
If your employer does not provide you a duplicate W2, you can contact the irs.

Q: Is their a web page that casey employees can go to find their w2 tax forms……?
Would like to know if a web page is available for casey employees to find their w2 tax forms if one does exsists thank you
A: Most employers will notify you when these are available. You can also contact your payroll or HR deptartment for help.
Q: What is the deadline for employers to send out W2 tax forms?
A: They must be sent out in the mail by Jan 31st. Some people don’t comply. If you haven’t recieved it by Feb 2nd then you can call the employer to see if they have sent them out yet. Most of the time they tell you yes even if they don’t. If they have request a new one and let them know you haven’t recieved it yet. Make sure they have your correct mailing address. If you have not recieved it by Feb 15th you can then report them to the IRS. The problem is that they just send a letter stating they have 30 days to comply or they will be fined. Most emoployers don’t know this.
Here is my suggestion. If you have not recieved it by Feb 7th Let them know you have already reported them to the IRS. This usually invokes urgency because they think they will get an audit quickly and most employeers and accountants do not want to go through an IRS audit.
I have had this problem with a few employers in my past that think they can screw with me. Just act like you know what you are talking about when you tell them you have reported them.
Q: If I request a copy of my tax form, will I get a copy of all the information that was on the W2 forms too?
I sent in my 1040A and lost my state W2 forms! I need the information from the W2’s to file my state taxes. If I request a copy of the transcripts from IRS, will it have all the information from the W2’s I sent?
A: I believe you have to get your W2 information from your employer you only get Tax forms from the IRS.
Q: I choose to Efile my tax return, do I need to mail in the W2 forms & other tax paper work?
I used Turbo Tax to do my taxes & everything went smoothly. It didn’t give a mailing address to send the W2 & other tax paper work to. I couldn’t find an answer on Turbo Tax’s website. Thanks for the help.
A: When you efile your tax return, it is not necessary to send in your W2 or 1099. The IRS will get a copy of your financial documents and will match it with the info you entered on your return when they eventually cross reference it. Just be sure and print out a copy of your return and keep it on file so that you can document anything at a later date if you need to.
Q: What can I do if my previous employer has not sent my w2 tax forms?
A: Contact your previous employer, did you move, maybe he doesn’t have your current address. If you call him and he will not give them to you. Contact IRS 1-800-829-1040. IRS will contact them and get the copies for you. But will not get them to you in time to file. You might want to ask for an extension to file. But you should of contacted your employer after Jan 31.
Q: when should we USUALLY receive our W2 tax forms?
first week of january?
second week?
february??
thanks.
A: Your employer has to have them in the mail by 31 Jan. (The way the law is written, that means “in the mail”, not in your hand or even postmarked, just in the mail.) Usually you should get them within 3 or 4 days of their mailing. As to when your employer will mail them out, you’ll have to ask your employer.
Q: Separate tax forms for different W2?
I have worked in two different schools in 2008 and hence have two different W2 forms for tax return. Do I need to fill in 2 separate 1040NREZs for these two W2s? If not, what do I do?
A: Combine (add) your gross wages from both of your W2’s and enter the amount on line 3 of form 1040NREZ. You attach a copy of each W2 to your single copy of your 1040EZ when you mail it in.

Q: How to get old tax (w2 forms). Can I still file them and get my money back?
A: Call IRS at 800-829-1040 and request an Information Returns Transcript which has all your W-2 and 1099 informaton on it. You can claim refunds for 2004 until April 15 of this year.
Q: Which department at work can I ask for that deals with tax forms (W2, W4)?
First off, i know NOTHING aboiut taxes and forms. I work in the medical field but got kinda screwed. The accountant told me I have to change my tax form from 1 to 0…i ended up owing $2,000 to the government cuz im single with no home =(
A: Your payroll department. It sounds like you aren’t claiming enough dependents. By claiming 1, they take less taxes out per paycheck meaning you will owe at the end of the year. If you claim 0, they take more taxes out per paycheck, but you won’t have to pay taxes (or at least not as much) at the end of the year. You really just need to ask yourself do you want more money in your paycheck now and owe at the end, or get more taxes taken out (hence less of a paycheck now), but not have to owe at year end.
Q: Where do you send your W2 forms for your tax returns?
Where do you send you w2 forms for your tax returns in CA?
A: IRS
