Q: Where can I find potential Brides for my Wedding Consultant Business?
I am an Independent Wedding Consultant looking for Couples that need help planning there weddings. You can visit our website at www.shaydzofluv.com. We do video production, Tax preparation, wedding planning & supplies, Mary Kay Consultant, & much more. If interested in anything please email me off of my website and if you visit it please sign the guestbook. Thank you.

A: I suggest a more romantic web address to start with. You can network at the many billions of bridal fairs that go on around the country, and advertise in the local Bride Magazine. (If you live in or near a metro area, there is probably a magazine just for local brides ~ Columbus Brides, NYC Weddings, SoCal Brides, etc)

P.S. I don’t think you want potential brides, you want potential customers who are already brides. If you want potential brides, log on to yahoo! personals.

Q: To get child tax credit, need ITIN. But IRS asked to apply along with return submission. How do I apply CTC?
I have a child who is eligible for child tax credit. But we came to USA in middle of 2007, IRS told us to apply ITIN for him along with 2007 returns. But no online tax filing tool is considering him as valid child dependent and eligible for Child Tax Credit unless we supply ITIN number while preparation. In this regard, is there any possibility to apply for child tax credit without feeding ITIN? is yes, how?

A: You’ll need to file a paper return.

If the software doesn’t provide support, do the tax return by hand. You have to send the W-7 and the tax return by mail to the ITIN unit.

Q: Accounting Help Needed. This is income statement preparation where I need to find out what the income taxes ar
I need to prepare an income statement for this company and determine what the income taxes are. The income tax is said to be 30% of the income before taxes, however I have not been able to figure out what the income is before taxes. The given information is as follow:
A/P…..35,000
A/R…….65,000
Advertising expense….15,000
Cash…… 19,500
Supplies expense…..46,000
Rent expense……..10,000
Utilities expense……..3,000
Misc. Expense….4,400
Salaries Expense…..61,000
Fees (revenues)……384,000
Owner’s equity…..140,000

It also states to assume that 7,500 shares of stock are outstanding, and I need to determine the income taxes (30% of income before tax)

I do not know what the outstanding shares have to do with this because I do not have dividends as an expense and if they are outstanding that means that they are not assets because they belong to shareholders. I just need to get the income, so I can get the taxes.

Please help….

A: Income 384,000

Expenses
– Advertising 15,000
– Supplies 46,000
– Rent 10,000
– Utilities 3,000
– Misc. 4,400
– Salaries 61,000
———-
Total Expenses 139,400

Income before taxes 244,600
Income Tax Rate 30%
Income taxes 73,380
Net Income 171,220

Ignore anything that is not income or expense in this case. They probably gave you extra information that meant nothing in this case to see that you could figure out what info you needed.

Q: What are my options for acquiring a business credit card?
I am a recent college graduate looking to start a tax preparation business. I have average credit with one major charge off on my credit report. What are my options for applying for a business credit card to finance office material and supplies? Im not looking for a huge credit limit, just need about 5k.

I know its ONLY 5k and your probably thinking I should borrow it from my parents or ask a “rich family member” I dont have those kind of resources so please refrain from those kind of answers. Serious answers only. Thanks in advance!

A: Hi LRJ,

If your going to try pitching to banks…i would suggest pitching to local banks in your community. They are more flexible with their terms and loan regulations because a lot of them are self underwritten loans. Remember to polish up your business plan and dress the part as well and of course the bank always want to know what is in it for them.

Another alternative is to start an LLC or Incorporate yourself as a business…then apply to supply companies using your LLC or Inc name. They will start you off with some credit line to get your supplies. Also apply to department stores that carry office supplies and in between all of them you should come close to your goal. At first it is hard to start your business credit line but it can be done.

I also have another source that a credit repair system recommends and they have a 5,000 and 10,000 credit card through their own retail company but there is some costs associated with these but they do rebuild your credit as well. Not trying to sell you anything, just resources that i have.

I hope this helps with your situation and wish you a great success and a Happy New Year!

Q: What are the ongoing, mandatory expenses associated with incorporating (LLC or S-Corp)?
This shouldn’t include actual business expenses like equipment, transportation, office supplies, etc. or even tax preparation fees. I’m talking about fees that I am legally obligated to pay in order to maintain in good standing as a corporation.

If I were to incorporate now, score a few contracts and then go an entire tax year with zero income, what expenses would I still need to pay? e.g. – registered agent fees for foreign corps, etc. With that zero income, would I necessarily even have to pay myself a salary, maintain a payroll?

A: I would consider Payroll for yourself or anyone else business expenses just like the equipment you mentioned.

The expenses you will have to pay to keep a Corp./LLC in good standing even if it doesn’t get any contracts are:
Secretary of State filling fees (in Louisiana its $25)
You may need a registered agent ($309 for our firm), but not necessarily… you could just as easily be the registered agent.

If you are the agent you will need a notary or lawyer yearly to stamp you report… even if the report says no changes.

Q: I need help with some accounting problem can someone help me?

Q: Can I deduct expenses for a self-published comic book as a ‘hobby’ on my taxes?
I self-publish a comic book online for fun, that I do sell, but the profits from sales are extremely minimal (under $50 for ‘06). Considering preparation and printing costs well exceeded any profits I made, could the expenses of printing and supplies be deducted as ‘hobby’ expenses when filing my federal return?

Also, I’ve spent money on supplies like paper, ink, brushes, etc. Could this also be deducted as part of the hobby?

Thanks.

A: Sure, you can deduct the expenses incurred for self-publishing a comic book online, for fun…..ONLY if you claim income from it. You see, on a “hobbie” you may only claim deductible expense up to the $$ amount of your hobby income.

It is therefore a wash…even steven….tit for tat…mano o mano. Why bother?

—————-Warning——–warning———-warning———
Be very careful about filing a Schedule C, (business loss) for a hobby.

If you do, you must prove, to an IRS auditor, that all the income and expenses you claimed are legitimate. At an audit, if you are unable to prove this a legitimate business (which it is not) you will be held accountable for penalties, interest and reimbursement of money to the Internal Revenue Service.

In my opinion, be an ethical individual. By filing this hobbie as a Sch. C (business with a loss), you may owe the IRS less tax initially, but you’ll pay the tax preparer a few hundred more for the forms and leave yourself open for an IRS audit.

It is not worth the trouble.
________________________________
I do not mean any disrespect to the man who answered this ? before me, but please do not file illegal business’. Watch out for preparers with his way of thinking.

There are ethical tax preparers out there who will work every legal angle for their tax clients and stand behind their work 100%…(like an Enrolled Agent).

Others do your taxes just for the quick $$$ and you’ll never find them again. Guess who is caught holding the bag….YOU…THE TAXPAYER. As soon as you sign the tax return…you are agreeing that all of the information in it is true and correct. Be Careful!

Q: Who is really looking out for us?
This is not a blame the Democrats or Obama post. This is a “how do we protect ourselves from our government” post. Please try to read it that way.

1993 – NAFTA, Signed by Clinton and supported by Republicans and Democrats. Can anyone argue it as an overall success?

1999 – , Gramm-Leach-Bliley, Authored by Republicans, signed by Clinton. Not entirely to blame for the crash, but certainly played a very large part along with the “Mark to Market” , NINA & NINJA loan fiascos. Fannie, Freddie …

No one is looking out for us. No one. No one.

The damage done took years to come to a head. Years after most of our elected officials have come and gone.

27% of our electric power is generated by reactors. All of the waste generated from all of the plants would fill a football field 12′ deep. It’s not much. I won’t bore you with “dry casks”. The issue is storage. If no action is taken in less than a decade a great many of these plants will simply have to close. Their storage facilities were never meant to be perminant and they are running out of time and storage space .http://www.yuccamountainexpose.com/

How will we replace 27% of our supply? Obama (not pounding Obama, no one else has done it either, just trying to talk and make some sense) is threatening to reverse Bush’s oil drilling policies with Executive Orders, Where will our energy come from? Sun? Wind? Not coal. Right? The Middle East?

How will we afford this? Sun and wind are both great but not economically viable for quite sometime without a major break through. That’s the same kind of thinking that made it ok to store Nuclear waste in temporary storage pits!

I really thought if nothing else we all agreed dependence on foreign oil is a universal concern.

Why would our government bow to the environmentalists when we all know what is at stake? What will the outcome of inaction be? If I were more of a conspiracy theorist, I might believe the industry was being manipulated in preparation for nationalization. So then we get to trade one greedy bunch of SOB’s for another, except it would appear that the second group (our government) was doing us a favor.

Problem is for the average citizen, the Arabs still have all the available oil and we still have greedy SOB’s in charge of the oil companies.

As the exception that proves the rule, does anyone else find it truly odd that gas is sub $2 per gallon? Looking a gift horse or have the oil companies and the Arabs suddenly grown a heart for the woes of the American people. Yeah I know all about the price of a barrel on the market, I just don’t think that explains it. I feel manipulated.

Enviromentlists provide a needed service. They keep the greedy from running over the weak, and they should continue. They should not be allowed to STOP progress. When it comes to heat and light for little old ladies in an Indiana winter, the snail darter has to lose.

We are less than a decade away from real energy problems. What will we do?

No one is looking out for us!

I lose 30% of my pay before I ever see it. I live in Indiana so I lose 7% when I spend it.Until recently, I was paying $3700 property tax per year on a house valued at 148k. That’s $308 per month btw. My utilities are taxed. My gasoline is taxed. I have to buy a licence for my dog, it’s a tax. I wonder how long we would stand for this if we had to write out our tax bills at the end of the month like our other bills. Then we might see what is actually happening to our money.

No one is looking out for us.

Government is just another business. But this one makes us buy their product. Have you seen their pay and retirement plans?

Really, Bad mouth Bush or Obama all you want but WE ARE IN REAL TROUBLE HERE and it’s only a few years away!

A: You are incorrect in assuming that wind and solar are not economically viable sources of energy. They are, along with geothermal and wave power, the ONLY economically viable sources of energy. Don’t be fooled into thinking we don’t have the technology to place the brunt of the burden on these sources. This is false rhetoric designed to trick us into continuing our dependence on oil. Right this very moment we have the technology required to become completely and totally energy dependent with infinitely renewable and clean energy for free. Do you think the trillion dollar oil industry wants this to happen?

You are right that the government isn’t looking out for us, but you are wrong that we need to drill for more oil as that would only give the already corrupt government more stake in the oil industry and less motivation to represent our interests instead of their own.

Q: No real answers from Obama or McCain?
